Quality Deer Tag-Cowiche
« on: July 18, 2023, 06:16:37 PM »
Excited about this tag.  Have chased elk many a time in the Unit. Ran across a few bruiser or three so Excited to do it during the colder part of November.  Working thru the sage brush or the oaks will bring some good results in theory 🤔    To others that have this tag good luck

What areas are you thinking to hunt? Have seem some beauties on Sedge Ridge after the season, but I think the herd around Yakima is suffering. Either way, you will have to tell us how the hunt went. Thanks!

I am familiar with the saddle and Sedge Ridge.  Some of the Oakes on the south side of the ridge have been good in the past.  Don't know about last winter but excited about this hunt.  Beautiful country and will need to start on the stationary bike reeeeal soon. You can PM me if you like and we can yak.  Not getting out much right now healing up from two eye surgeries, going little bat s crazy.  I got a fiddle foot and don't sit around very well.   Good luck to you this upcoming hunting season.

Does it start early...up by Green lake I've seen some biggies..And yes, Sedge Ridge and Red Saddle Road hold beauties during the rut.  I have a friend that lives on the South Fork and his dad lives on the North Fork. Spent YEARS hunting up there...How about up Nasty Creek. I saw a herd of bucks during the Oct. muzzy hunt up there had a couple biggies... We had permission to hunt Pine Mountain back in the day. We would see 30 bucks a day.
Thanks for all for your past support...We officially pulled the plug and have retired from the Biz. Still dabble a little in real estate.

Fun hunt, but don’t expect a trophy buck.  Numbers are way down, haven’t recovered from the winter of 16-17.  A friend has the tag this year as well.

Pretty familiar with nasty creek road area.  Down lower lots of Oakes and some good water sources, up higher private property's lines get a little blurred  but manageable.  Pine mountain if I remember is Hanson property talked with Gary about 20 years ago don't know if he is still with us.  I'm open to about anything with access.   While a monster would be great just hunting during the run should make it interesting. I'm open to PM's and would love to chat but it's hunting and people are guarded and that's OK also.  To those that have same tag best of luck 👍

the whole south half of pine mountain is Hansen property with a couple sections of landlocked state the north half is broke up into private 40’s mainly.  You won’t gain access to any of it but there’s a ton of other land to hunt though.  Look for character bucks not high scoring there FYI.

Back when we used to muzzle elk hunt up the northfork we always ran into bucks, alot of big 2pts and some decent shooters. We hunted it during the muzzle season last year and ran into some smaller bucks but I know the guys that run the cattle up there that see some good bucks from time to time. This will probably  be the last year we really hunt it since my dad is getting to old to elk hunt and always said once he gets his last cow tag he's done after that well he got drawn this year, hopefully he can get it done but we will keep an eye out for deer for ya when we are up there

Moosemaster is my dad  we saw a lot of bucks passed he passed on several ! Which was fun to watch . Saw a lot of elk and had some fun encounters . We did see a  a monster during the storm and couldn’t make it happen. Following day of storm was slow and we checked all sorts of areas. Found this guy and the smile says it all. We had  time wish we had more great to spend time together. To see him  and relax was what made it a memory of a lifetime . Not the biggest deer we saw but the time we got together makes it perfect.   Got to run around on his canam and use it the way it was supposed to be used even had to winch the deer up from the ravine ! Lots of laughs and smiles.
