I was drawn in late Sept. last year.  WDFW or governement drawing system was all messed up.

That is what I thought I remembered happening last year as well but the responses from wdfw that other members posted here have me confused. I want to be in my stand September 1st but that is tough if they wait until late September

The leftover draw started in mid August last year. Some had the chance to purchase before Sept 1st. Notification were sent out all the way in to late October that I am aware of. Well after most general seasons were over.
If wdfw was going to handle it this way again I don't see why they couldn't have the list of eligible buyers ready to go on 8/1. They don't need to know how many tags are left to assemble the buying order, just start at the top of the list based on remaining tags.

Do you think there are more people who applied and didn't draw than leftover tags? Even if there are, I don't see why they couldn't just do a draw for as many names as there are tags and give them a week or two to buy. After that, open it up.

I don't think it matters how many leftovers there actually are. They could assemble the list of eligible buyers from those who were not drawn initially and base how many notifications go out on the number of leftovers. There are going to be way more names in the 2nd draw than tags anyway. The pool of undrawn names that will be in the 2nd draw has been constant since 3/31.

The reason I ask is if there are more leftover tags than people who didn't draw, they should just open it up to everyone who applied 8/1

I don't think there is another drawing...they just go down the list from the first and only drawing...basically if 10,000 people put in for it initially they rank everyone by "drawing" (1st person drawn gets assigned #1, etc etc until everyone has a draw #) and they notified the first 6,500 and only 6,000 bought it, then the next 500 in line (number 6,501-7,001) are notified to go buy the tag within 15 days, then after that, if say 100 tags were not bought then numbers 7,002-7,102 get the notice to go buy the tag, and it continues until all of the tags are sold...so, yes, they should have released the next group notification on Aug 1st, not sure why they wait...

:yeah:

Only the wdfw could come up with the convoluted bs they did last year...what the hell is wrong with keeping it simple...FCFS after the deadline and they will all sell out before archery opens.

It shows how clueless so many in WDFW are that they didn't realize a multi season tag really loses its appeal come late November and December  :chuckle:  :bash:

And to beat a very very dead horse...  The multiseason permitting process is far too long where 99% of your purchasers already know if they will buy it or not shortly after the special permit draws.  I think we should be getting WDFW notices soon to apply for the 2024 Multiseason draws...

It does, but I was pretty excited last year when I was finally "drawn" the end of October and could hunt late archery   :)
