Home, Barn, Driveway Camera's
« on: November 21, 2024, 12:17:41 PM »
I'd like to set up some wireless cameras outside the house, down the driveway and at the Barn.  I'm not really sure what I need, I've looked at Costco, Amazon and Simplisafe?

The driveway gate is 250yds from the house
Barn is 100yds from the house.

I want something that I can see night/day.  Solar would be much better than having to change batteries.  I don't think I have any internet at the driveway or the Barn, maybe I need something different than the house?

First hand knowledge is appreciated.....

No internet is really going to hamper your search.  Knocks cell cams and most Home wireless cams like ARLO out of the picture.
I have no advice other than those 2 work well for me.

I use Blink, but with no internet those won’t work four you.

No internet will definitely hamper your search.  Do you have cell service?

We have Arlo at our house and they work great.  I bought a better router and can get service at the end of our driveway but it isn't very reliable there (probably 100 yards from the house).  The Arlo cameras have been great for everything else.  We also have cellular game cams that seem to work a little better down there.  I wish we could get wifi down there that worked all the time as the Arlo cameras are great but the Tactacams work pretty well and the pics are pushed through pretty fast

The house has wireless internet but the Barn and the driveway does not.  I suppose I could get internet for the barn?  The Barn is about 60 yards from the house.

And now all the thieves (especially the South American ones)are starting to use WiFi jammers that supposedly costs $40 to get, even though I thought they were illegal. I don’t know.   Not your average meth head though.

My big garage is about 75 yards from the house and picks up my Blink system fine from internet in the house. No trees or other obstructions and placement of sync module is important. We have sky link internet

I’ve been using these $119 cellular cams and happy with them.

You can buy wi-fi boosters that plug into a wall outlet for barn.
Just use your home wireless Internet.
