North East Archery
« on: August 21, 2023, 04:24:27 PM »
Hey all, hope everyone's doing well, especially with the fires going around. I was curious if anyone was in need of an archery elk partner in northeast Washington. Ive been doing a lot of hiking around and scouting but just really don't know much about the area. This will be my second season hunting, but really want to just tag along and help with whatever and would love to learn from a more seasoned hunter. Thanks for your time!

I am 22 and this will be my second season.

I grew up going to elk camp with my grandpa in the Oregon Blues and loved just being around the animals and being in the woods but never had the chance to go myself, my dad was always busy and I played sports all three seasons. But once I got out of high school I wanted to really get into it but at that point my grandpa and his group have slowed down and stopped hunting. And hunting out of state is spendy! Finally I just decided to go for it and try to provide some meat for my wife and I. Last year I did some hunting up north of Spokane solo and didn't see much. I was really hoping to meet some new hunting friends and earn my keep.

Let me know if anyone would like any more info!

NE elk are a hot commodity and people who do find them are not likely to bring a stranger to their spot. It sounds like you are on the right track as far as getting out in the woods so my best bit of advice is to read articles, watch videos and do as much learning as you can through the school of hard knocks. Thanks man! I kind of figured that might be the case based on what I've read on NE elk. I will keep logging miles!

You should also say a little bit more about you.  Age, interests, etc. etc. etc.......  Not many people are gonna invite a stranger to their elk spot and the ones that may be interested in expanding their camp are gonna need more info.

What got you into hunting?  What else have you hunted?  Are you 100% solo or do you have a hunting partner?  You know...the important things.

are you set on elk or would you want to go deer hunting too? Plenty of options up in NE corner to work on your skills with deer and also more people that would likely be willing to take you along

Yes I would love the opportunity to tag along on a hunt for anything. I have my modern rifle deer tag this year instead of archery. I would love to do archery but really wanted to get some meat and figured I would have a better chance that way. I also love bear meat so if anyone's looking for yogi and boo boo let me know!

Lots of bear in this state.  I would be hunting them right now....and while hunting bear, looking for deer and elk sign.  Good luck.  Are you a student at WSU or UofI??

I was going to go to WSU, but I actually decided to start a fine woodworking and painting business. So if anyone ever needs some work done let me know, haha  😂

When you do find them better keep it to yourself.
Finding elk in the NE Washington is like finding a unicorn 🦄.
I know guys that won't even call there friends or family to pack it out. Take there spots to the grave. I do wish ya luck.
Wish I could help ya.

If you do find what your looking for ...... 🤫.
Good luck.
