Probably best to turn it over to Leo...
They can find the owner allot easier...and it could very easily be stolen or evidence...

Same boat. It seems irresponsible not to know all your serial numbers

https://www.hotgunz.com/search.php

I would have to wonder who all gets notified about any search on this site? Maybe nobody. Maybe a certain select few.
I do agree though, turning it in is the best way to go. Unless you find someone that puts in an ad for a lost gun!

Evidence to prove what? Highly unlikely any criminal case will ever develop or have some substantial revelation. What would LE do with it? Post it as you have. No takers, enjoy your new gun.

Wow....you couldn't be more wrong.  LEO can run the serial number and see if there report of it being stolen.  If so....whammo....owner found.  Most people that lose a firearm will contact LEO to see if one was turned in....whammmo.....owner found.  Ask me how I know!!!  My kimber was stolen and made it's way home this way.

Do the right thing and turn it in.

How many people know all the serial numbers to their guns?? Do the right thing contact LEO  and let them handle it

More important question would be, "Who doesn't know all the serial numbers of their firearms??"  If you don't, you really should.  When my kimber was stolen, I reported it with serial number and eventually got it back.  Had I not known the serial number.....may have never seen it again.

Yep

First thing Leo asked if you have one stolen, what’s the serial number?
I have a book with the numbers of every gun I ever owned.

To OP

You are on a public forum announcing that you are in violation of WA gun laws and offering to transfer a handgun without a background check. Not saying you’re wrong , but maybe in danger of legal action if the wrong folks read this.

Turn it in and move on.

On the low end of the spectrum theft/ burglary
On the high end homicide.
It's really not that impossible....serial numbers, rifling, DNA...all things a gun can provide.
And for the OP the last thing I want in my possession as "oh I found it" is a firearm used in a homicide. :twocents:

I have all of mine and I agree. That pistol may have been tossed for a reason.  :dunno:

Incorrect and horrible advice.
