FRIDAY IT WAS....! Opening Day-Weekend roared
« on: September 12, 2023, 11:42:06 AM »
I've had to abandon my traditional hunting spot for the grouse opener (darn!) ...ROTTEN TIMING... :bash: So I'm thinking about a couple of areas. Anyone have any late intel they can share?

Government Meadows...upper Little Naches
Upper Teanaway River and/or Teanaway Ridge
Salmon la Sac

Friday is the key. Grouse are on the warpath and we need to head 'em off!   :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:

We are out elk hunting and seeing 10-20 grouse a day without trying.  They are thick this year.

Used to see them up around government meadows,  but stopped going up on weekends as i was never comfortable shooting with so many people zipping around on bikes and 4 wheelers

Seems like pretty normal grouse numbers around Yakima and Kittitas counties this year.

Now laborday weekend I was up in the NE corner of the state bear hunting and the number of grouse we saw was staggering. Hurt my heart not being able to have grouse for dinner.
It is foolish and wrong to mourn these men.  Rather, we should thank god that such men lived.  -General George S. Patton

Tons of grouse on my property. Sitting in my tree stand I had 8-10 walking around me for a while

Im seeing a lot more than normal on the wet side too. Little guys scare the piss out of me waling around looking for bears.
What country can preserve it's liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon & pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants.

I’m seeing tons of grouse this year archery elk hunting. They had a great hatch.
