What would he score?
« on: September 18, 2023, 11:02:31 AM »
Over the years I have determined, trail cam’s do not give the deer the justice they deserve. After looking at this pic, I had decided without dropper, he was not a shooter. After seeing him in person, my mind totally changed as it has for the last 5 years.

Masher blacktail, no clue what you are thinking! :twocents:

Do you have better pics of his body ? Things would have to be pretty controlled before I ever passed up a BT like that. Tough decisions !

I'd club that one as a muley, that is next level blacktail.  Wowzhers   Old mossbacks are the trophies of all trophies in my book.  I'm sitting here twitchin just looking at him

If I saw that in the woods during season, score would not even enter my mind. If I had pics of him, he'd be my target buck for the foreseeable.  Old mature buck with war clubs for antlers, truly a trophy regardless of score.

Better body comparison, when standing next to 4x5. His mass is very misleading, my problems with trail cams. His HI’s are 6.75 and 6.5”. Yes after seeing him in person I do not know what I was thinking. Mains are a tad over 22” each and dropper is 10 3/4”. His green gross is 160 7/8” helps when you get over 44” of mass

He was not the biggest, on cam this year, just the nastiest, It was a tough decision until I saw him, then his mass made it a no brainer, the 4x5 is going to be a stud in two years, if he makes it, what made the decision tough was, I was sitting on a multi season tag and a quality tag, so not many days I was unable to hunt. So another toad off to Alicia at last look taxidermy. Check her out under the taxidermy thread, and you can see some of the bucks she has already done for me, breath taking
