9/18/2023 meeting in Colville
« on: September 23, 2023, 03:07:48 AM »
Last Tuesday the 18th there was a meeting in Colville to adopt the state building codes. Instead of the local codes.
The turn out was huge.  I have not seen any thing more about it in the news. Had a friend who was going and the line to get in was 4 people wide just to get inside.

I can't find anything about the results

I dont think they actually came to any conclusions.  Seems to me local politics has come to the point where change of philosophy needs voted in.  Just like the idiots behind the homeless camp.

Are there changes that could/should be made to the way people build on their properties ?, a citizen board should be reviewing potential changes as individual changes, not wholesale all-inclusive change as some politico deems suitable for their agenda.

How about more important issues like a suitable jail big enough to lock people up for their crimes rather than having to turn them out for lack of room.

If you listen to the news on Colville KCVL radio you will get more info. Erick Carpenter the owner of the station is sharing comments all this week from people who were in attendance. He does a very good job of covering local news!

The one Stevens county commissioner who is pushing this the hardest is the one that Inslee appointed when the last commissioner was forced out of office, no wonder this commissioner wants to adopt the state building policies.

I'm willing to bet he doesn't make it through the next election!

I’ve heard Carpenter talking about it quite a bit but what I’m not getting is what reason the commissioners would have for adopting the state policy. Would they get more funding or something?

Im sure there would be revenue sharing from permits and inspections, plus it would bring this county in-line with the state making further progress toward inclusion in other aspects of state law rather than just accountability to the county.
