Anyone shoot one of these? I did and was really impressed with it, especially for the price.

Never owned one but shot one of a buddies quite a bit, was a nice shooting bow compared to Bear bows of old. His did have a funky noise at the end of the draw cycle when the string stop came around and hit the string, made a "toink" sound. If I remember right the serving on the sting was getting pretty worn in the same area. For about the same price I would look at the Mission bows, Hoyt Hawk series or the Diamond line. I hear through the grapevine that Hoyt will be releasing some new economical bows in July. Maybe Hoytstaffshooter can confirm that rumor.

I shoot a 2008 Truth 2 and I like it. I think I'm going to buy a Mathews next year though.

I don't get any weird sound when I draw back on my Truth 2, and it seems pretty quiet.

When I was testing different bows to decide on which one to shoot this is what I felt.  I felt that it was a really good shooting bow.  It wasn't as quiet, smooth, shock or torque free like the Hoyt AM32 or BT Admiral.  But it didn't miss those marks by much.  While it wasn't as good it also costs almost $200 dollars less.  So for the price it is an outstanding bow.  If you buy it I don't think you will regret getting it.

I shoot a Bear Instinct.  I'm not any kind of Bear advocate and I'm not gonna claim that it is a "Great Bow".  But, when I was looking I liked it's ratio of price for features/quality.... machined limb pockets, axle to axle length, brace height, weight, etc.  I chose to focus on high end components like rest, sight, release, broadheads and go with cheaper bow.  Overall, no complaints with it.

I know there are a lot of guys out there and on the site that are brand loyal but I don't think the overall technology and feature differences justify that massive price differences between bows.  Look at getting a bow that has the what you want and don't focus brands and models as much.  If the Truth bow fits your needs and you like the way it shoots you'll likely be fine.

Personally, I think I would only look at getting into a real high end bow (I'm talking compounds not long/recurves)  if I knew that I was going to really shoot a ton... I mean year round, thousands and thousands of shots.  Unlike guns, bows don't tend to appreciate and guys tend to upgrade every few years.  So unless I can really justify the extra 300-600 $ with tons of use I'm gonna look for better value propositions  :twocents:
