I am getting a little concerned!
« on: June 06, 2009, 09:34:08 PM »
I have put a couple of different sabots into the barrel to test how easy they could be pushed down the barrel.
They have all been real real difficult to push down the barrel! Is there a trick to this??
The last one I got into the barrel, but it became stuck about 2/3rds of the way down.
I had to take a wood dowl and a hammer to push it back out. Do I lubricate the sabot??
I have already cleaned the barrel and poured boiling water from a tea kettle down the barrel. :dunno: :dunno:

what bullet are you trying to shoot. i found that the hornady sst bullets with the easy load sabots shoot very well out of my bighorn. plus they are a little under sized so they load almost like your droping them down the barrel. but snug enough to stay in there. p.s. powerbelts suck.

No, don't lubricate the sabot. You might want to try a different bullet. Did you try the Harvester crush rib sabots that I suggested?

I had the same problems with my Bighorn, some barrels are just tighter than others.  I had a few conversations with Knight Customer service and they recommended the orange Knight EZ load sabot.  They even sent me a bunch free.  They work fine but I’ve found that the green .44 caliber sabot with .44 bullets works fine too.  A haven’t tried the Harvester sabot but it’s worth a shot.

About the only thing that doesn’t work well in my Bighorn is the Knight Black sabot.  It’s too tight and it’s inaccurate.

I called the manufacturer of most sabots made and ordered the thinest they had.
We will see.

I talked to Knight and I am sending my barrel back to exchange for one that is more mainstream.
