Is this a WDFW Tag?
« on: October 09, 2023, 08:19:32 PM »
Kinda hard to see but this little guy has been hanging around our cabin in Okanogan.  Is this some kind of tag?

That looks like a “Call Before Consuming” tag; meaning that the bear has likely been drugged at some point in the past for some reason. It could have been last week, or it could have been 3 years ago.

WDFW uses the number on the tag to look up how long ago the  animal was drugged, and use that info to determine whether or not it is safe to eat.

:chuckle: knew a couple of "cowboys" back in the 80's who loved roping bears on their range and putting "tags" in their ears!
The only good tree, is a stump!
