Our neighborhood deer are still active in daylight.  A tall forked horn showed up for the first time Friday last week (haven't seen him all year) and has been pushing the does all week and has kicked the resident spike out of the game.   Heading out to check some cams tonight in the toutle and coweeman, will report back.

Was coming home from work the other evening after swing shift. 10:30pm and as I pulled in to the driveway a huge bodied 3 point comes hauling a$$ out of our back yard (we're in city limits in the middle of town).  As I sat in the truck with my mouth agape, another buck, a 4x5, not as big bodied, but neck swollen and chest and face full of past battle scars, comes sauntering out of the yard.  He just put a lickin' on that 3 point.  He didn't care that I was there and just walked into the street and crossed the road into the neighbors yard.  :o

I came in the house and asked the wife if she heard anything in the back yard.  She said, "No, but the dog has been whining at the kitchen door for over an hour."  :chuckle:

One does not hunt in order to kill; on the contrary, one kills in order to have hunted. If one were to present the sportsman with the death of the animal as a gift he would refuse it. What he is after is having to win it, to conquer the surly brute through his own effort and skill with all the extras that this carries with it: the immersion in the countryside, the healthfulness of the exercise, the distraction from his job. ~ Jose Ortega y Gasset

Buddy just had a opportunity at a solid shooter buck in vail on his quality tag. He came around the corner and the buck was by himself sniffing the road around noon. He needed 1 more second. :bash:
