Honrady Bore Drive Eldx Performance

I decided to use these bullets this year.  I shot my bull at 162 yards, see post in elk hunting tread of quality mudflow bull.  Anyhow I know there has been a lot about good bullets etc. on here.  I wanted to give my experience from this season. I still use the Barnes 290 grain bullets and use the other Hornady 300 red saboted bullets for follow up loads.

As for these bullets they say they weigh 340 grains.  They do load easy as stated. and they seemed very accurate to me while shooting them during practice.  So, I shot my bull at 162 yards. he turned and laid down and before I was finished getting capped, he was sliding down the hill.  Upon getting to him and gutting and skinning I recovered the bullet. and that petal was in the top of the heart.  This bull looked like I shot him with a 300 win mag.  I have not in my experience seen that kind of trauma with a muzzleloader in the few bulls I have shot with my muzz. 3 so far.  All I can say is I was very impressed with the bullet performance. The recovered bullet and petal was 239.5 grains. so, it lost 100 grains, but went through both lungs and part of the heart and was on the offside under the hide.  I will try to post more pics

I had similar results on my buck this year at 120yds. Hard quartering away shot when he stood up in his bed and he fell right back into it.  Impressed with their accuracy and terminal performance so far.

I shot a Mulie last year - 325 yards with an ELD-X from my 6.5 Creedmoor.  Walked 10 steps and fell over dead.

I shot a bear this year with my 7mm RM  (175 ELDx).  I shot high and it put a hole thru the spine that was at least 1.5 inches in diameter. (approx 200 yards)

I am sold!

I especially like that Hornady did a great job keeping bullets available for reloaders during the covid derth.

Are they easier to load than the SST's?  As easy as PB's?

I think they are very easy to load and yes probably easier than the SST's I have no idea about PB I have never tried using those.   At the range for practice, they loaded very easy even after several shots. They load a lot easier than the Barnes with the blue T-EZ 290's. I should add that I use 110 grans of tapped down triple 7, this is my go-to load and just seems to work with whatever bullet I shoot.

I use the standard bore drivers for deer and like them. Load easily and shoot great. Only one deer so far and did not get much information on damage.
