Weekend sucess stories?
« on: October 16, 2023, 06:50:53 PM »
Cant believe we're not seeing any posts. Myself and Der Panz took two fellas out and had more bad shooting on easy birds than should be admitted. Great start to another season. Partner managed to drop this beauty BWT in eclipse. First I've ever seen in this area. Really strong numbers of birds already with good numbers to central Oregon coast seen also.

Nice shoot on a mix of ducks and geese.
Don't read my post if facts hurt your feeling.

Took the youngest out for seaducks on Saturday. He took his limit of 2 white-wing scoters. It was a fairly foggy morning.
Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him. Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate. - Psalm 127:3-5

We shot 23 one the opener between 14 shooters in 3 blinds. Pretty slow, birds were flaring as they worked the decoys due to gunshots all over. Mostly hen shovelers with a couple hen gadwall, couple drake teals and one hen widge. Had a good time though.

We had a hell of an opening weekend. Back to back days of 6 man limits, wigeon, woodducks and mallards. Best part was my dog had TPLO surgery in April and the recovery has been a slow process but he handled the weekend great and doesn't show any ill effects from all the work

Took my son out for the weekend, on the opener I got a limit of ducks and 3 snipe. On Sunday, it was a limit of ducks and limit of snipe! Nothing like brushing off the dust with a snipe shoot

Last three mornings as I walk out to feed the horses there have been a flock of 20 honkers that fly just over the shop.  I think I am going to have to lean the sky buster up in the corner of the barn.

My son & daughter did some jump shooting. They did pretty good. They set out decoys and got one mallard on a evening hunt. Jump shooting was more productive for them on opening weekend. I was looking for a big enough deer. I think they had more fun than I did.
I felt like a one legged cat trying to bury a terd on a frozen pond!

Just imagine if those guys you brought out could actually shoot....especially that one on the end getting Panz all excited shooting at birds 100 yards off.

Promised to take a coworker out for combo trip. Just getting in to waterfowling and both birds and coho were cooperative.

Solo endeavor this morning. Stayed local again and witnessed really good numbers of birds. One other boat was hunting so it's good to see folks out
