Hey Guys,
Still trying to track down a legal buck for 2023. Scouted up a legal one the Friday before the opener but since then have only come across does. I am hunting over in Chelan County, been hunting numerous areas like Natapoc, Dirtyface Peak, Maverick Saddle and up on Wenatchee Ridge.
Putting numerous miles on my legs and gaining elevation to get away from people. Now my question is, looks like we have a pretty good storm system coming in this week that will drop snow down to almost 2,000 elevation here in my area. My thought is to return to where I was spotting the most does the opening weekend up in the burns at about 5,500 elevation. Hoping some of the bucks will begin their migration but at the very least animals will be easier to spot with a white backdrop.
As a newer hunter without experience hunting snowstorms, do you tend to hunt the snowline or would you advocate going as high as possible still? My instincts tell me to stay as far west as I can (within reason to where I still have good glassing).
Anyways, if you guys have any thoughts on how to hunt these systems or even the general areas that I mentioned, I would much appreciate any input!
