Browning Citori
«

I have a 50 yrs old 12 gauge Citori that's only had a box or two of shells shot through it and I'm thinking of taking it out this weekend. Steel shot is required in the area
I'll be hunting. My question is it safe to use steel shot in an older Citori?

Here's what Browning has to say:

I’ll add that I’ve been shooting steel in my Belgium made A5 for years with no adverse effects. I did have the choke opened up to IM from full before I did that. I would not shoot steel through a fixed, full choke.

Bismuth or tungsten should be shootable.

If it does not have factory installed choke tubes (invector) then no.
If it is 50 years old, Browning was not using choke tubes.
So, again, the answer is no to steel shot,
