1st bear
« on: October 21, 2023, 06:18:26 AM »
so much fun on this hunt. 1st off it was my wife birthday and I told since we have been hunting so much we won't go today since it is her birthday but she insisted that we go out to get the kids out of the house and enjoy some nature time :) I am a super lucky guy. We got the wildlife escapement gate at around 4pm and we dropped our packs and set up the small coleman popup tent we have and then walked around the bend to hopefully see some animals, instantly we spot a deer but it was just a doe so couldn't shoot that. We head back to the tent because the kiddos are getting hungry so my 3 year old and wife sit in the tent and start reading and my 5 year old son and I sit over the edge of a clear cute while I jet boil some noodles, i had just started the 2nd batch of noodles and I kept hearing something off in the woods so I told my son I bet we see something tonight when 2 minutes later right after I stirred the noodle I looked up and saw this bear walking out at the edge of the tree line 150 yards away I told my son plug your ears he dropped his noodles and plugged his ears. After I made sure there were no cubs trailing I pulled the trigger and dropped this bear it rolled about 10 feet into the blackberries. Browning hells canyon 6.5 creedmor with Hornady precision hunter 143gr ELDX bullet. It was a long pack out but luckily my dad and brother were able to meet us there and help. Super excited and happy with this great memory to share with my kiddos and wife.

Pretty sure I passed you guys at the gate and talked to your wife for a second as I was coming out.  Congrats on the bear!   That will help some more deer make it!
