Youth Hunt in 124
« on: October 21, 2023, 10:26:16 AM »
I know chances are probably slim. This is my son's (15) third year hunting, and I really want to see him get some success. We came up to 124 last year and were able to see a few deer, but nothing he was able to get a shot off on.

This year, the spots we were seeing signs have no signs at all.  Honestly, he'd be happy to just seem fill his tag with a doe.  We are currently staying in Loom Lake area, but obviously can drive around as needed.

Any insights on some good areas or even private owners who need a doe removed?

I don't have access to a specific spot to recommend, but I've had good success door-knocking in that unit for antlerless access. If a landowner says "no," be sure to ask if they know of any neighbors or friends who might provide access. I bet investing 2 or 3 hours knocking would pay off in some access to a field hunt. Best of luck.
