Choosing the proper arrows?

How do I determine what I need for arrows? Got my son a Barnett Vortex beginners bow that's fully adjustable. 23.5" draw on him, and it's 19-40 lbs . I'm not sure what it came factory reset at yet but I'm guessing I just might as well get ones that will stand up to 40 lb. I'm not sure how did figure out what is the correct spine strength so that I get the right ones? I'm assuming there will be someone there in the archery department that knows what they're doing but I'm not going to bank on that because 12 years ago when I bought my first bow I had an employee not know what they were doing and one of the first ones I fired exploded on me and I was very lucky to not get injured.

Each manufacturer has it's own spine numbering. Luckily there's not many manufacturers. I always lean towards stiffer spines when on the edge personally.

I would buy a dozen quality arrows for myself and cut a few of my old arrows down for the kid.Again go to an actual archery shop and get decent help from the start.You will save money in the long run.

I just found out there's an indoor archery shop which is super cool place to go and shoot during the winter right here in Lacey not far from me called I think it was archery world and dropping it off with them so that they can completely set everything and tune it and have it ready to go for him and he will be all set hopefully next paycheck can get a membership for me and him there so that we can go there and shoot.. anyways they're going to set him up with some arrows some practice ones

Since he's probably going to trash a bunch of them right away learning I was hoping to get away with just buying some cheap beaters at like Walmart or Big 5 or something but I have no idea how to make sure I get ones that have enough spine

Just got back. Archery world made him up some Destroyers. That's not an actual brand that's what they call them because they are some El cheapo's that are good and tough he said they make great first ones because they're just going to go out and destroy them

Having a good archery shop set you up is the best way to go IMHO, I could care less about making arrows myself as it just requires more tools etc that I don’t want to buy.

If the bow is set up right from the shop you won’t mess up many arrows, I never messed any up, lost a couple missing the target.🤣

My son is special needs. He's severe ADHD, clinically OCD and autistic, with Tourette's thrown in, I'll be lucky if he doesn't immediately shoot them at the tree, or side of the shop, or my truck, so cheap destroyers will be perfect  I'm gonna start out with a dozen, hope those will last til Friday
