Deer definitely have a pecking order…..dominant does are mean as all heck.

There was a doe that was hanging around a few years back. She didn't have any lower front jaw/chin and her tongue was hanging down. She had a real tough time eating, I had to cut apples into small chunks for her. Couldn't figure out what happened to her but got to thinking that maybe she had a fight with another doe and got whacked with a front hoof pretty good. Not sure if that could happen or not.

Remember watching a pair of mule deer does square off out the back screen door of our camper when I was probably ten or so. They weren't more than ten yards away and they tested up a couple times legs a kicking before one of them had enough. Made me a little scared of deer for a while watching them duke it out.

Watch them duke it out all the time out in the field.  Had one a few years ago that must have lost her fawn to predators, she would spy our house cats 200 yds away, make a bee line to them and chase them up a tree.
