My son finally got it done

It's been a pretty hard season deer number wise. Used to seeing 12+ a day in our area and having days of zero was rough when your not used to it especially for a 14yr old. Usually by now we see quite a few spikes and a handful of forkys starting to push does and there was none of that happening so on Thursday evening we decided to leave our spot 45min early and hunt our way back to the gate glassing cuts. The 3rd one we got to my girlfriend spotting a deer in the bottom so I jumped out of the truck and soon as I put my binos on him I knew it was a buck but light was fading fast. I grabbed the spotter and could see he was atleast a spike possibly a little forky. Snapped a quick pic to show my son and he decided he wanted to try a shot.
He was shootin my 7 mag so I got it ranged and dialed, tried for 15 min to get him settled behind the bipod and he could not get comfortable. I ran back to the truck and grabbed my sand bag and rushed back over and got him setup on a stump and he said he was comfortable. He had 2min till he couldn't see anymore and I told him now or never your going to lose light. He squeezed the trigger and the buck jumped and took 5 steps and fell over. Buck down! 305 yds and he took out half his heart, couldn't be more proud of this kid. 10 more days and he gets to do it all over again in idaho, hopefully I can get him somthing a little bigger
