Another unit in Idah has CWD
« on: November 08, 2023, 10:27:36 PM »
I just read that a mule deer taken in Idaho Unit 32 A has tested positive for CWD.

It's coming, sooner or later. I wonder if the DFW will start studying this now or 20 years after it first arrives. I have a feeling that the anti-hunting members of the commission are excited at the reality of dwindling ungulates in our state.

And there’sa lot of area between 14 and 32a.  Probably every unit in between there has it too.

So 1 unit, straight line from 14 through 23 to 32A. I kinda doubt it is in the other units honestly, I’m guessing somebody ignored CWD rules and dumped a carcass in 32 near squaw Butte. Those 32a deer end up in that country over the winter

That stuff is insidious.  Human infection doesn't concern me as much as what it definitely does to deer herds.  Don't like to sound doomsday, but an outbreak in Washinton could be disastrous to our already dwindling herds.  It certainly decimated a strong unit we hunted for years in Utah.

I still haven’t seen a check station this year besides the one they have in Ahsahka. Sure wish they’d expand testing throughout Idaho.
