River fishing during Thanksgiving Holiday advice
« on: November 22, 2023, 09:13:42 AM »
Our Daughter is in town here on the West side for Thanksgiving break from WSU.  I'd  like to get her out and bank fish one day while she's here.  I cured a bunch of eggs this Summer and haven't had a chance to get out and use them.  Any advice on a river that's got a decent B-run of coho or chum right now?  Was thinking about trying the Satsop, but haven't fished it for at least 3-4 years.  More interested in just catching fish than anything else.  Chum would be fine.  Any advice would be appreciated.  I dont' get out much anymore on rivers.  Thanks in advance!

The Nisqually, below the tank crossing, should be stacked up with big chum. They are fun to catch.

They have been closing it early to 'protect' chums returning in low numbers.

How far do you want to drive? The Sky is probably chock full of chums right now. Lots of places to bank fish.

Satsop was gonna be my first guess. Nooch and Cowlitz both have fish.

Also wondered if walking down Seqwalitchew beach trail would be a good place to intercept bright south sound/Nisqually chum from the beach.

I'd hit the any of coastal tribs they pretty much all have fish in em right now. Satsop launches were absolutely plugged with boat trailers today. Meaning there are a few fish to be had there.
