Idaho Shed Season Closure
« on: November 27, 2023, 07:31:37 PM »
https://idfg.idaho.gov/article/fg-commission-approves-temporary-antler-gathering-closure-upper-snake-and-southeast-regions?utm_campaign=huntingnewsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_source=govdelivery

Being an Idaho resident I personally wish they’d of just closed the entire state, or left the entire state open. I see this pushing a lot more people into my area shed hunting which will end up filtering more people into the area for hunting season 😝

I think it’s the free spirited side of me but I can’t stand being micro managed by fish and game, we are not Washington 😂

It's a shame how monetized it's become.

I wish they’d close the whole state to antler hunting until Memorial Day weekend. Some folks sure pissed me off last year when they were following us on our final push to open up the road into a drainage last year so they could be the first ones picking up antlers in mid April.

I wish you couldn’t sell them. You can’t sell the meat.
You gonna draw those pistols or whistle Dixie?

My wife wishes I’d sell them lol… Our Aussies have been averaging 50-100 sheds a season 🤣

I think shutting it down only for shed season is ridiculous. If you want to shut it down and give the animals the break that you are trying to achieve, it should be shut down for all user groups such as snowmobiles, snowshoeing, hiking, etc.. I believe after last winter and a long hunting season that they need to be left alone for the winter but it should be for all user groups.

What Lewy said

So what they're saying is you can hunt woodland caribou sheds from a now essentially extinct herd in the Selkirks...

I guess it means you can "horn hunt" still, looking for Antelope sheds.    Theres a few of them there.

I know it has nothing to do with the closure, it just caught me funny how they worded it.

Not to mention, if you shut it down for everything you would lose the hound hunters and trappers. Who in the end are reducing stress on game by eliminating lions, wolves and coyotes
