As some know my great grandma is from Alberta, her and the family “migrated “😆 into the states when she was around 10. They eventually made their way to Nebraska where they lived for awhile, ranching and farming. 1880,s- early1900,s. She would tell stories around hunting camp(Little Bellingham) when I was a boy of the bucks they killed in Alberta. She told stories of going to other ranches for “rendezvous”,(she was French/Canadien)birthday parties, holidays etc. She said it was always a great time to go to her cousins once a year and see all the antlers that were hanging on the fencing, every year there were more and more. She would say there were hundreds of sets, some, unbelievably big, she would hold her hands out to about a 3’ width or so👍  I could sit and listen to her stories for hours. I remember a story of her and her sister (her sister held the bullets😆) killing a huge buck at the age of 9 or 10, the buck was feeding on food that was meant for the cattle. Her dad handed her a rifle and told her to “put one behind the ear”, so as to not waste any meat. She did, approximately 120 yards or so, open sights. Buck down. She said “to many points to count, we didn’t care”.  Those that know her know where her shooting took her. I sure wish we had pictures of those times, just the stories. There used to be some huge bucks in “Berta”, I’m sure there still is👍

Oops, correction, just looked at the journal. Behind the ear at “about 40 yards”.  120 was an elk her sister killed the next morning.👍

That would be a killer hunt in Saskatchewan for a monster whitetail. Like others have stated, I believe the md are off limits for non residents. It would be worth your while to go for a giant whitetail though. Alberta has some giants deer as well and can do combo hunts. I was last up there in 2019 for a wt hunt and shot a nice one. I want to get back up and do it again

Check out Billy Franklin, he has Silver Sage Outfitters out of Brooks Alberta.
They have great Mule deer and White tail.
Get ready to open up the check book.
I did three hunts with his brother Jack Franklin in the early 90s.
Billy now runs the operation. They also kill some amazing Antelope.

Jerry,
You may also want to think about going to the Utah expo. Lots of Canadian outfitters at the show.

And what most don’t know is that 165 is on a clean 8, besides that stupid split brow.
Freaking giant of an 8.

The deer are hard to judge because the bodies are so big. A standard mass buck might look 150 but be well over 170 because the disproportionate body size. This was a no brainer though and was exactly what I was looking for. If I could do it every year, I would. I love it up there. Bryan puts on a top notch experience as well. Can’t recommend him enough.
