Barrel replacement
« on: December 21, 2023, 12:07:12 PM »
I have a 1903 Winchester 22 Automatic that is in nice shape except it has a pit in the chamber and when I fire a round the brass expands into the pit and the extractor tears off the rim of the cartridge and it's stuck in the chamber. I tried polishing the chamber, using different brands of brass etc, no such luck. So basically it's a single shot muzzle un loader.

Well I found a new old stock barrel for it and I need a gunsmith to replace it. Is there any gunsmiths in the Everett area that works on rimfires? Finding a gunsmith in this area has been a real challenge for me. If anyone has a recommendation I would appreciate it greatly!

I spoke with them today and they have a gunsmith that will be calling me tomorrow, hopefully he will be able to help me out. Any gunsmith they have you know that they'll do great work! A friend had them build a couple rifles for him and they are absolutely outstanding! Thank you for the response, it's much appreciated!

Benchmark Barrels in Silvana,WA replaced the barrel for me for a nominal fee and the old 22 Automatic is a shooter again! Great outfit and very nice group of people there. My next build will definitely be done there.
