2006 Black Bear tooth analysis
« on: November 19, 2007, 08:18:12 PM »
November 2007 update to my post in this thread.
http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,848.0.html

Today I called F&W to ask if they had stopped sending the  Tooth Analysis postcards. The gal on the phone said they would send them (for 2006 bears) out when all the data was collected and returned to them. (about the same answer as before)

But this time she did have the ages of the three bears my brother and I killed.
So if you killed a bear in 2006, sent in a tooth and are interested in knowing it's age all you have to do is call 360-902-2515 and tell them that you want to know the age of the bear you killed.

I call to find out the age...im not on the "spreadsheet"... ;) how typical. Anyways, she confirmed that they are still going to send out cards, but they may have not examined the tooth as of yet...worth a shot though, thanks for the post.

Can they tell you the dates of most of the harvest from each year to include when the "last" bears are taken?  Same number?

Machias - I am not sure. It would be interesting data to know. Later on I will try to post pics of the 3 bears we killed in 2006 and the ages.

So I called again today and was told that they will no longer be sending out the postcards. The guy on the phone said that the old guy "did that on his own" and since he left no one will be doing it.
I don't really buy that explaination, but he did find the spreadsheet and gave me the ages of the bears in question.
