too bad, what a moron.  I wonder what he did wrong? Tresspassing?  I read on another site he said he shot the deer in the evening but retrieved it the next morning. All the field pictures are in the dark, didn't make sense to me.

I think he was trespassing .. sounds like he was dropped off in the dark and picked up in the dark.

When something big gets harvested, I stopped investing my efforts of believing them to be legal a long time ago. Not saying I accuse people of wrong doing,  but it's easier to just say "good job" and move on, rather than invest the mental efforts in believing someone just to be let down. If you kill a big one, good for you, if you poach it, you get all that's coming to you. Too many times in my hunting life I believed, then heard the real truth, sometimes years later. Not worth the effort now

Once I read he used a crossbow, I’m thinking something’s up. And that he sold his bow, cmon you can work an extra job or something life can’t get that tough to sell your bow for quick cash. He made a lousy shot, lucked out on the recovery. It’s all bad. Hunters need to have clean ethics especially this day and age. My opinion. Follow the rules, regs, and laws and still kill a booner. That would be most manly.

Wow, so much to navigate when you tag a big deer. Then, to end up in trouble over it. Yikes!! I like to follow the rules, but it sounds way less complicated to just shoot small deer. Anyone on here ever get a bunch of offers for their large deer? It would be hard to let a deer go, even for the amounts of money they are talking.

Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

My guess is that is not the only law broken but that is where it starts.

Such a shame. I can’t imagine how many people did the right thing and passed that buck because it was on property they couldn’t hunt, not in season or after hunting hours. Not saying this guy broke all of those rules but so many others followed all the rules and didn’t get to harvest that magnificent animal.

The pair met at the property the next morning and began their search.

As the two stood there, Haunert saw Alexander glance over his shoulder toward the ponds and do a double take. Haunert’s eyes followed Alexander’s gaze to where a white belly and mass of antlers lay beside one of the ponds.

If they found the buck the next morning, why are the field photos at night?

You'll never hear the truth.
Even if you heard the truth, you'd never know it 💯.
That's how this stuff works out.
