Sure I’ve eaten a few… none were purposely put directly in the coals but hey when your grate flips over and your dinners in the fire you don’t have much choice other than eat them or go hungry. Cooked trout on hot rocks in the fire and they always turned out good.

What's the benefit of covering your steak with ash?  :dunno:
From what I've read I don't know if there's any benefit other than a different way of grilling  :dunno: I find it easier to just put a grate over a campfire,but I would try it can't imagine it being bad.
