My goal this winter is to get my garage organized and turned into a home gym/hunting and fishing cave. I’ve started on it but haven’t gotten too far yet. Also I’d like to spend some more time figuring out some winter fishing that doesn’t include steelhead. I used to tie some flies but quit it because it didn’t have enough time for the hobbies I had, nevermind adding more…so I trimmed down on the list of hobbies I was half participating in in hopes of increasing time for other stuff.

It’s more a matter of figuring out time and where to go.

I’ve always meant to try it out. The problem with it for me is there are trout there to be caught so i’d probably end up focusing on them.
If I was smart I’d tie some flies….

I'll tie some up but I can't find an accurate pattern to copy.

I'm sure there are a bunch of nymphs that will catch them (likely even better ), but I'm talking about the traditional "whitefish flies" that have been used for years mostly in Central WA, usually used with a spinning rig, usually in a 2-fly set up, usually with maggots. Heard about it all my life, but never did it since it conflicted strongly with steelhead fishing.
