Have you had trouble with paw injuries?

Only one time have I had to address anything paw related in the field…
(My lab was - the only dog - hunting for a bunch of guys in a line, and all of a sudden she shows back up at my feet, hobbling. I inspected and found a 1” thorn stuck into the side of her big pad on a front. I pulled it out, she licked my face, and tore off to hunt again!)

… but I have seen my dogs stop and pull thorns and cockleburrs and stuff out on their own.

Booties? With suspenders? Seems more trouble than it’s worth to me, but like I said, I’ve never had to deal with any serious paw damage. Only hunted chuckar once or twice.

Looks like an accessory for city dogs and a yuppie conversation starter. My dog would give me a stupid look then go roll around. Lotsa heat retention when running and would fill with junk. I've dealt with two serious pad tears, not fun. Pulled quite a few cactus spines, no big deal.

We hunted all over Ewa for many years. Ran our dogs pretty much year round so their feet were always tough. Those little nasty cactus balls that pop loose though, they are crazy bad.
The worst one of those was when one of our boys still had his nuts, and flicked one of the ones stuck to his back feet up and was stuck to, yes you guessed it, his nuts. He was standing with his rear legs spread weird with the 'Help Me!' look. I got out the Leatherman and said, "I am so sorry!" as I clamped onto the spine and pulled it out.

Had both my Brits break their toes a couple times.
The only man who never makes a mistake, is the man who never does anything!!
The further one goes into the wilderness, the greater the attraction of its lonely freedom.
