Cat Hunting Western Wa
« on: January 21, 2024, 12:10:12 PM »
Hey Guys, I’m very new to hunting especially predator hunting and with all the other seasons closed the only seasons that are open are cat and coyote, so I’m just looking for tips like what calls, procedures, and maybe even areas? Put In about a week and half in total of predator hunting and have only heard a bobcat scream. We have a foxpro we use on rabbit distress and lucky bird and just haven’t really gotten any action with it. So just really looking for any heads up on anything even if it’s some yotes

I struggle connecting with the cats but I can find them pretty well. I figure if I make enough sets on sign it will eventually happen. Most of the sign is from bobs, but that’s cool with me. I find a lot of scratching posts in the patches of trees in clearcuts. Find lots of the tracks crossing gated roads between older timber and reprod.
As far as yotes, the only time I seem to call them in on the west is is when I’m calling for turkeys in the spring. Never tried it when I was targeting yotes, but it never fails during turkey season.

Thank you For Responding,

Yeah that would be awesome just to connect with some we even have a really hard time just finding any life of them, and I’ve never thought of looking for any things like scratching post,

And that’s interesting about the whole coyote thing, but you hunt turkeys on the west side?

no worries. I do hunt turkeys on the west side like a crazy person. Found them in 4-5 locations, called a couple in but I wanted to make the impossible even harder by using a bow. But I haven’t been in a couple seasons due to my new little guy.
