The Methow, just a shadow of its former self!!  Transplants came in rich and clueless with agenda's.  Hwy 20 sealed its doom!!

These wolves would have eaten deer if hunters hadn't previously shot them all!!!

The nice thing about wolves is that there are far fewer coyotes killing fawns these days.

That's true, but wolves kill the hell out of fawns too, I don't think it was a good trade off.
Wolves kill the offspring, and kill the mature elk, deer etc. pretty soon your herds are aged, they start to die off or get killed and what we have left is a predator pit which is where we have been for some time.
The few deer we have left are always on the run, always on full alert. We had a huge herd of five come off the top yesterday goin all out, they crossed the flat and went up the other side, stood just below the ridge-line looking back and pacing for about an hour before heading for the river bottom.
Drive the loop from the Methow side to the summit you won't see one single deer except those in town and even those are way down. 60 some years ago when we had the Game Department you would have counted deer in the hundreds.

I know, you know all this Bone

If you wanna see critters vacate a drainage turn up the wolf howls as loud as a fox pro custom call will play them.
Critters that know get gone in a hurry.

Just a FWIW, Anyone living in these rural areas that has first hand knowledge of wolf attacks on pets, needs to make sure that the main stream news hear about it. The non-hunting public (a group of people, hunters should be coveting) care very little about wildlife or livestock. Pets however, there's something that the single woman living in an apartment in the metropolis or the soccer mom living in the suburbs of the Puget Sound may actually pay attention to and care about. Seeing and hearing on the news about a woman having to watch her family's pet get killed and devoured by wolves is golden in terms of information that will start turning the tide on the sentiment toward the wolves. Anyone who knows anything about wolves and their penchant for any animal that walks or flies knows that this experiment won't end well for wolves. It may take a while but there was a reason people over the centuries have kept the wolves at bay. The people that live a nice comfortable existence in a place protected by miles of concrete need to hear about things like this every time it happens. A lot of these people want to leave the Urban blanky on the weekends to spend time in the outdoors. Things like this may give them pause and make them think twice about planning a few days in the countryside. Any time the masses have to consider an issue like this, it may get us to the end of this experiment just a little sooner.

 :yeah: Couldn't agree more

I do feel bad for the dog. German shepards are great dogs, they dont deserve ignorant owners.

I wonder what the percentage is in changing a pro-wolfers mind?

Over the years I have talked with many I met out in the brush or while driving down back roads and county roads, I explain to them about how dogs are wolf magnets and that if they are going to be out hiking/walking with or without their dogs they should be packing. Four that I know of, who actually asked questions, within a week three of the women had gotten guns and learned how to shoot. The forth, a guy had to shoot a wolf off his dog 2 months later, he called me and told me the story, and no he didn't report it to the joke known as wdf&wolves. One lady I talk to said she would be extremely happy to be eatin by wolves-brain dead to the hilt. There are those who get over bearing as they know everything there is to know about wolves, how they balance the ecosystem bla, bla, bla, just walk away cuz you aren’t guna want to listen to their fairly tale stories of wolves.

We had been seeing wolves in this one area quite a bit and one morning we met this lady out hiking, I told her she should be packing if she was going to be hiking in the area as we had seen a few wolves, she started in with her the wolves are great BS and then switched to politics and started bashing Trump, like there was some kind of connection. I told her I wasn't going to talk politics with her and that made her even madder  :chuckle:, I said have a nice day and rode off.

In 2009 I talk with a guy who lost two dogs to wolves in less than a week, I tried to get him to report it to wdfw and the paper He said he wouldn’t do that because he didn’t want to give the wolves a bad name. He said he would just buy a couple more dogs and keep them in the house. Come to find out wdfw had released wolves close to his place the week before.

. There are those who have the 4000+ square feet “cabins in the woods” who are extremely arrogant, they are a special class of people that no amount of explaining will penetrate their mind set, they are going to need some up close bad wolf encounters before they start to see the real wolf, unfortunately they don’t spend much time over here, but they do have multi million dollar cabins in the woods.

With so many years of brain washing by TV, MSM, WDFW, USFWS and the fake environmentalist these people are sure they are right and most of them are not going to listen to anything negative about wolves. And the pro-wolf crowd who have bad experiences with wolves, come out with the BS that they live in the wolfs space so they have to learn to share, I heard that from a couple this summer, and have heard it from others. I think that info probably came from wdfw or cnw, and those who can’t think for themselves scoop it right up and repeat it.

Getting MSM to report anything negative about wolves is just about impossible just like the covid jabs, and probably the main reason so many people are in the dark about wolves. And if you do get a story in a local paper they will slant it to favor wolves and if you report it to wdfw they will spin it to excuse the wolves or flat out lie. On the other hand, an up close bad experience seems to penetrate fairly quickly for most people.

I have talk to a few of the pro-wolf people about grizzly bears, funny they don’t have the same love for the big bears as they do for wolves. I think when the usfws bears start making trouble the BS factor will have to be a special blend. I’m quite sure they will be dumping problem bears on us like they did with cow killing wolves, I also wander if they will drop the bears within a mile of town like they did with wolves in the Twisp area.

This kind of keep will be the norm now. There's a family across the river from me in the  valley that has a fenced orchard. Well not all fences are greatly maintained and the deer get in there and feed on Apple's and hang out there in the winter. They had the pack of wolves come in there and kill 2 deer. Probably the same pack as the one that killed this dog at Texas Creek.

Very likely, though that is a convergence zone for three different packs (Gold Ridge, Libby and Leecher)

Yea one of the packs spent the winter up Gold creek last winter. Getting where there's more packs now that I am sure over lapping territory is occurring. Certainly not the deer to sustain them much longer I imagine

I talk to a friend who lives in Twisp, he said they have been hearing wolves howling on the outskirts of town at night. I wonder if this is going to be like Sun Valley back in the day, where wolves were killing elk on main street, only this would be wolves killing deer in peoples yards. If it does happen it won't be a pretty look for the wolves or wdfw. I'm sure they will come up with a special line of BS though.

There is very little game left out in the woods.  No dramatization.  There is just very little left.  The wolves will come to town because that is what’s left.

I stand with some other comments.  Killing my dog I'm shooting the wolf's.  I will protect my family an thats what pets are. Sue me. Now with the possibility of no predator hunting the city people are gonna see alot of predators in there yards. Good luck.
