Birds in the potholes.
« on: January 24, 2024, 09:31:08 AM »
Me and my buddies are going to hit the potholes for the final weekend. Anybody been there recently, do they have a decent amount of birds?

I have a friend over there that monitors the birds and flights. I usuall go the last weekend also. He told me there are very few birds and all of the big water is still frozen. The wasteway and canals are flowing but very few birds. There are alot of birds on the weat side. I am seeing flights of northern birds all day long. We shot full limits on sunday and limits today  by 8:20. Lots of birds and geese showed back up. I am staying here and hunting local the last 3 days.  I dont see a need to drive 3 hours for less birds and very little options  for open water. It will definately concentrate everyone in a smaller area. If you do decide to go. Rake a look at any moving water
