Headed to the Boundary Waters
« on: January 31, 2024, 01:41:30 PM »
Pretty excited. All the geeking out over maps and decisions as to where to go took a solid step forward this morning. Got our entry permit for Seagull Lake #54 off the Gunflint Trail. Trip will be 35-42 miles by canoe over 5 days. Hopefully lots of walleye, pike, lakers and smallmouth will be caught and lots of memories will be made.

Do you need a cook? So jealous, one of my bucket list items. Pike on a fly in the boundary waters. Good luck, have fun!

I’ll have my 8 weight. Going to go down the rabbit hole and see if I can catch all 4 on a fly rod. I’ll have my spinning rod with me too.

Can I send you some flies? It'll be like I'm there.

Don’t worry, there will be plenty of flies there, mostly the black biting kind but also plenty of no-see-ums.

In 2011 I went to the boundary waters on a wildfire assignment. It was one of the best experiences of my life. It was late season and not much work to do. Me and another guy on the crew both packed telescoping fishing poles and a few lures. It was essentially a government funded fishing trip for a week. Getting back there is still very high on my to do list! Please give us a full report of your trip!!

Can I go in your canoe?

I'm light and don't take up much space.
