IN honesty it was a budgeting move.   Typically wildlife photographs of that quality come from wildlife photographers.   They paid handsomely for those images.  Then some brainiac came up with photo contests where everyone can submit and every photo submitted becomes their property.   Well, they had to switch formats a bit to compensate for what was being submitted.

They're caving in to pressure from the anti crowd and wdfw's very own employees.

That sounds like a winner,winner.... venison dinner.

Most likely be a bear or cougar on the cover. Who knows!
Not saying bear or cougar on cover is bad.
But it would be a little ironic, considering opportunities being cut.

Lots of other very pro hunting states use live animals for cover photos. Idaho, MT, WY, etc. We all love to hate on wdfw and especially the commission but this is hardly a sky is falling moment :twocents:

This is a non issue. Just switching it up and boneaddict might be onto something. Better quality photos from wildlife photographers. They don't want your Snapchat screenshots of screenshots.

I agree many others have high quality shots.
They also own your photo after you submit.

Not sure if that's a turnoff for some :dunno:

Even my crappy ,screenshot of a screenshot, cell pic, trail cam , 💩 photos are still my own.
Reason I didn't submit anything.

I recall a cover with a black bear previously and also one with a cougar IIRC.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

Ya I think your right.
Did they shorten the season those years. I can't remember.
I'm not gonna say what's right or wrong on the cover.
They can put whatever they like,I would think our biologists would have plenty of photos.
Like said, bear or cougar is not bad, just a little ironic under the new changes coming up.
It what's inside that's important.

Maybe one of those woodland caribou that doesn't exist anymore. :chuckle:

Maybe a wolf or a grizzly bear.
Boy that would stir some pots.
On both sides of every coin.

Yep, I was just thinking of the caribou they didn’t even try to save, but save a predator? Tho the live pic debate doesn’t bother me.
I have Man Chit to do
