Razor Clams

Easy dig w a small tide, going for more tonight.  Was a great day for a dig, weather was awesome!

Tough digging for clams this afternoon. I ended up with two. The wind was ripping and rain was coming down sideways. Was anybody else out there?

We went a few days ago, on Thursday. Was not an easy dig by any means. Had to pound the sand to get the majority of them to show. Smaller sized too. But we got our 30 at the end of it. Took about 45 mins.

Tried for some surf perch too. Had a few bites and caught a dink. Always worth trying when down for clamming!

It was good the past couple days. Today looked a bit too sporty for me to go.

We went again this last weekend. Great clamming both days. On Sunday we clammed at Roosevelt beach and crossed the creek at Iron Springs.  I just read today that a guy got his truck stuck in the creek and died.  I always look at it closely before crossing and sometimes turn around. If you choose to cross that creek be cautious.  I’ve seen a truck not make it and get swept away. Driver was lucky to get out that time.

I was going to say, the creek is usual pretty easy crossing!

The first story I saw on this incident said that witnesses saw two people swimming trying to make it to the bank.  The story above doesn't mention anyone else as being in the vehicle.

"About 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dennis A. Faulk of Grandview was headed south on Copalis Beach in Grays Harbor County. Troopers say he drove his 2020 Chevrolet Traverse into a river access point and came to a stop when the SUV began to flood with water."

The location description seems odd, but I'm thinking he drove into the Copalis River off of a "fishing" access road vs doing a "low tide beach crossing" which I would not ever recommend on the Copalis - which is closed to vehicles anyway.  Hard to imagine getting swept up at Iron springs, plenty of "street" cars cross there.  It happened at 6:30 on Monday night which was not part of a clam dig.

Ocean Shores, 11 Ocean view Lane caller states they can see a vehicle knows down into the river unknown if occupied can only see the brake lights 629 p.m.
Access is going to be off of the Roosevelt Beach approach, one adult and a child were seen swimming away from the vehicle towards the North Bank of the river.

Pretty fun day on the coast! It's been a few years since I have been clamming or even to the beach for that matter. Glad I made it out!

Great clamming with ya.  3 days worth of clams is a LOT of clams. 

Really wanted to dig some of those lunker holes on the way back to the vehicles.
