Re: Silencer central banish backcountry

I have a Banish 30 and a Banish Backcountry and have hunted and shot with both extensively.

I purchased the Banish 30 back in 2021 using the old paper forms and received it in the summer of 2022, well over a year later. I bought a Backcountry in the fall of 2022 shortly after Silencer Central announced it. I bought that suppressor using the new (at the time) E-Form system and, IIRC, I received it about 8-9 months later. For what it's worth, I heard from 3 different people this week saying they just received approval for their suppressors after a 3-4 month wait time. Not exactly sure what's going on lately, but it really seems like the ATF made some changes to their system and have been approving silencers A LOT faster than used to be the case.

Anyway, the Banish 30 is a little quieter than the Backcountry when the 30 is in its full 9" configuration. However, it's also nearly 4" longer overall and can really be a pain to deal with in many hunting situations. Even though it's a little louder than the 30, the Backcountry is still wonderful at reducing noise and recoil and is MUCH handier to tote around on a hunt. To be perfectly candid, I would have bought the Banish Backcountry instead of the Banish 30 if it were available back in 2021 when I made my first suppressor purchase because I think it fits my needs better.

I think the Banish 30 is a more versatile suppressor and is a better choice for someone who wants something very flexible thats suitable for a lot of use at the range for high volume work as well as afield hunting. The same is also true if you do a lot of hunting where you don't necessarily require a lighter and/or more compact suppressor. Or if you want the maximum noise reduction and/or recoil reduction.

On the other hand, I think the Backcountry is a better hunting specific suppressor. Sure, you can slap it on an AR and have a lot of fun at the range with it too, but I think there are other suppressors better suited for that work. But the Banish Backcountry is hands down the better suppressor for someone who wants a lightweight and compact suppressor ideally suited for hunting that also provides good noise and recoil reduction.

The Banish 30 is also a little less expensive and you can disassemble it to clean it (that's not the case with the Backcountry).
