Late archery typo?

I’m really hoping this is a typo. November 27-30 for late archery?! Come on man!
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

Doesn't really look like just a typo to me. They have it consistently starting on Wednesday and ending November 30th.

Appears they did away with all antlerless MD archery hunting in the 200 GMU's too.......Unfortunately, that is prolly a good thing, so my guess is the proposal for late is accurate.

272 and 278 are getting 40 antlerless permits in the early season and late season. The WDFW sited drought and disease for the change.

Thanks for the explanation.

My general observation is that the herd in 278 and 381 has been in decline for a good 7-9 years, so much so that I haven't done the late archery in 278 the past 2 seasons. Seemed like the same amount of hunters with 75% less deer.

So I guess I can get behind this move.

I don't think its a typo this go around. A lot of changes happening. Some we are not happy with. But hopfully a few will be for the benefits of the herds. Really going to change this seasons plans again with all the changes. Every years seems like the playbook changes for my seasons plans drastically and scramble to find success. Gets harder and harder every year.

Unless they make it hurt for the biggest user group it's a token gesture at best.  Take time and doe permits from the smallest user group with the smallest success rate, woo hoo, we're saving the herds now! FM! :bash:

It appears they're reducing W Early archery elk by a day each year for the three-year period, while changing the harvest to only 3-pt or better in several units.

This would be the second time in recent years they have messed it up. Typically it opens the day after the rifle permit season closes. It always opens before thanks giving sometimes a day before thanksgiving and sometimes a week before thanksgiving depending on the way thanks giving falls that year.

Thanksgiving is always the fourth Thursday of the month, 2024 it lands on 11/28 but last year in 2023 it landed on 11/23.

I’m really hoping it is another typo and they didn’t shorten it to a 4 day season.

Unit 250 needs a rest, they need to rotate the units every other year. Maybe open the Quilomene or the Mission or Gardner let some other units get hunted during the rut for a change.
Love that they want to stop the antlerless harvest in the early season in some well known units. Sorry for getting off the point of the thread.

Looks like it's real and that is ridiculous... it's one of the lowest success rate hunts out there...  :(

I’m really hoping this is a typo. November 27-30 for late archery?! Come on man!

I think its a mistake cause the dates they crossed out are not even right.  Better be a mistake .  To go from 10 days to 4 is ridiculous. It will just concentrate the hunters even more.   Id like to keep in mind these are only proposals from what i gather. But i dont put anything past this game dept.

Trying to fix a problem that really doesn't exist!  :twocents:

Quote
WAC 220-414-080 Hunting—Hunter orange and hunter pink clothing requirements.
This proposal eliminates the language of "except bear and cougar" from Part (2) of the rule, requiring all big game hunters
with modern firearm equipment to wear fluorescent hunter orange and/or fluorescent hunter pink clothing. This will improve
safety of hunters in the backcountry and should not greatly affect hunter opportunity or success.

Here are the descriptions of the 24-26 deer changes in a WDFW questionnaire, no mention of reducing the durations but either way general comments can be posted here. Not much time left.
