Anyone draw this tag?I had it 10 years ago and settled for a 2 point,I know the unit well, have hunted it for 30 yrs.If anyone wants to hook-up give me a shout! How big of a bull should I set my sights on?Is a 350 bull doable in this unit!I will not shoot the first branched antler bull I see unless it is a toad! What do you guys think?

You will have fun, I had it last year and it was just a crappy season in general for me but I saw elk, put about 60 miles on my boots in 5 days went home with great stories and good pics of the country no elk. I would focus on the boundary up toward the Little Naches that is where I saw most of my sign and animals last year, if you need I can look at a map and PM you more information.
If you shoot the first one you will never get that true trophy.

we killed this guy in observatory last year, down in the sagebrush. Saw a lot of nice bulls, they aren't hard to find in that unit.

I have hunted this area for the last 12 years during archery and blew a couple chances at nice bulls drew the archery tag twice!  >:(
But I have always seen at least (3-5) 6 pt or maybe larger heavy bruisers crossing around Frost meadows just past tamarack springs on the forest service roads once you get out of LT Murray Wildlife area, we always came in from Joe Watt Canyon. and plenty of back and forth elk chatter around buck meadows especially on the dark slopes in the evenings really thick and really steep.
Hope that helps.
I struck out this year for Elk BUT....
I got a Desert archery tag for Muley's HOOOORAAH!

I drew the only "any bull" tag for Observatory B during the 3rd week in Sept. I'm going to get a big screaming bull.

What part of the units are you interested in hunting?
Quartz Mt, Clemons MT, Wenas, Buck Meadows, Frost Mt, etc?

Elkaholic123, I should have enough vacation to spend at least a couple days in camp as cook and human mule. I still owe you a couple packboard trips from last year! Unless work has me sent to some corner of the world!

2 words...... "Shadow Creek" last year there was a herd in there with 24 cows,a 3X4, two 5X5's, a 5X6, and a Bruiser of a 6X7 that I chased back and forth across the 3330 mainline around the 7mp from South fork Meadows/Case Knife Canyon over to Tamarack Springs and down Icicle Creek for 2 whole weeks and got within 50 of the big one several times(I use a recurve so no shot), but the cows kept busting me!!  :bash: I should have settled for another animal, but you know how it is when you see the one you want....... .
