Decoys

Old decoys I've used are shot, paint's gone, look like brown blobs with a tail, time to replace.

Any recommendations on a quality set up/brands? I've always run a jake and hen or two when I've used them. Open to new suggestions, see a lot of big gobbler now being used....

Typically would prefer something packable for running/gunning. Happy to spend a little more for something that will hold up.

for me it depends on your needs

fields close to car - avian or dave smith makes nice hard decoys but long range carry is a PITA
packing/ walking - montana collapsible are nice to pack

or none - most of my time is this, setup for 40 yd minus solution for first sighting and no decoy used

Both great options.

Both will last a long time especially the DS. Won’t need to replace again with these.   
We are always running and gunning even with these decoys. Light weight and durable.

I picked up the Avian HDR Jake and Hen decoys last year and really liked them. They are partially flocked so they looked really good on when the sun hit them.

I just carry a DSD hen. Left it in the truck on accident opening day and I'm sure it would've helped bring in a Tom that hung up behind a log when he didn't see what he was hearing...

Later in the season, it kept the real hens around long enough last year for the Tom to follow them in. They would've hung around longer but...

I've got a bunch of Avian X flocked waterfowl decoys and they're pretty hard to beat. Nice Tom!

I like Avian, I run these for turkey and waterfowl mostly because they have been working for the last few years and I dont need to buy more.

They are manufactured in China, while Dave Smith Decoy is manufactured in Oregon. G&H are manufactured in Oklahoma. Im finally in a spot where I am not struggling to save every cent, and its worth it to me to pay more to support domestic industry. Whenever I get new decoys, these are what I'm going with.

I have Avian and Dave Smith - I will say the Avian ones are definitely more realistic looking

I bought a jake and hen packable decoys from Montana Decoy Co., Purr-Fect 3d last season. I've used them only once on private property and they seemed to work well. They are certainly easier to pack than standard dekes. I'll be trying them again this spring.
