This is my first year not buying the point, so all 5 of us in the party have 0, I’ve drawn 3 out of 4 years(all with point) the one year I didn’t draw I got in by alternate tag. Hopin I don’t regret not buying the point, we shall see.

I wouldnt necessarily call it no man's land. As total apps continue to back slide I forsee 0 and 1 being 50/50ish this year. 1 was 40% last year. I would have personally purchased a point. It guarantees you will hunt deer in MT this year or 2025 season. Going in at zero gives you no guarantee. Total apps for deer from 2019-2023:

19'- 12,519
20'- 13,606
21' - 19,484 (thanks covid)
22'- 17,396
23'- 15,929

Montana's new rules on points building is working as intended by flushing top points. Unfortunately they changed how they layout points use but if you do the math there's overall far less applicants with 1.2-3pts in 2022 and 2023.

none of that is accurate. You do not get a point if unsuccessful unless you pay up front for the point. You cannot purchase a point in the fall if you applied in the spring.

none of that is accurate. You do not get a point if unsuccessful unless you pay up front for the point. You cannot purchase a point in the fall if you applied in the spring.
:yeah: Also when you buy a point you get it before the draw.

I haven't looked at the big game combo numbers. The thread is titled montana deer so I was assuming we were talking about deer combos :dunno:
