We have went to Montana the last 4-5 years with landowner tags. This year the ranch owner forgot to send in the papers notarized and by the time they caught it, it was too late to be fixed this year. He has already fixed it for next year for us but this year we had to go into the general deer draw. 7 of us put in for the zero point option individually. Last year it was 53% draw odds and year before it was 54% draw odds. Only one out of the seven of us actually drew so we were just severely unlucky or the odds decreased dramatically this year. Oh well, maybe one or two of us more can sneak a tag in the alternant list draw.

Well I didn’t draw big game combo. How soon does that get returned to my cc?
unless it's changed it comes back as a check not a refund on your card

3pts is mandatory draw. It's impossible not to draw out at 3. I'd be calling fish and game to get my tag.

3 preference points for a combo license? Or 3 bonus points for a permit with combo return if unsuccessful?

because it's not. 1 can not draw before 2, and 2 cannot draw before 3. And everyone with 3 automatically draw.

My theory when I hear stuff like that is guys lost points because they went consecutive years WITHOUT APPLYING. So they think 2 or 3 but are really back at 0 or 1. Montana's draw system is very simple. Like 3 paragraphs worth of explanation but there's definitely a few things that will trip a guy up.
