Deer wintered well
« on: March 10, 2024, 04:10:18 PM »
Kind of a dark video, but thru out a little corn and in they came. Most seemed in great shape with good fawn survival.  Had 4 or 5 whitetail mixed in with the mule deer, but mulies ran them out fairly quickly

Thanks for sharing, wish it was an hour longer. I need to watch something, this crappy weather is keeping holed up.

That’s why the wolves are down there now.

Maybe, but seeing the elk up canyon quite aways. Dog sat on the back deck watching em from about 15 feet and didn't seem to bother them. Was surprised how aggressive the mule deer were towards the whitetail, don't see them come in together very often.  Nice to sit eating dinner while watching them prance around.

It is nice to see the deer had a mild winter.  Hopefully we get a good spring with a little rains for good feed.

It's about location. Some survived better in some places than other's.

Show you? Just because snow pack is low doesn't mean deer didn't winter well. Particularly where predator population has thrived. Think it thru

Little traffic this morning. The deer I have seen in town and the foothills all look strong. Lots of last year's fawn crop seemed to have wintered over well and look strong. I also have been happy to see a good amount of twins.

Deer around my place are looking good. Lots of fawn recruitment and multiple sets of twins made it through the winter.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

And kill more when the weather is colder. Higher temps lowers pressure across the board.
What country can preserve it's liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms. The remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon & pacify them. What signify a few lives lost in a century or two? The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants.
