I’m a resident now and have 4 points from putting in as a non resident. Has anyone hunted this unit before?

I drew that units archery tag and hunted it for 2 weeks last year.  I started around the 19th of September.  All of our elk encounters were within a few hundred yards of private property on the border of the national forest.  I have hunted this unit off and on since the 90s and I can say that it was the fewest elk i had ever seen.  I spoke with several other hunters who were packing into the back country for days that hadn't even seen elk sign.  I even spoke with the area biologist and he confirmed that most of the elk in that unit stay in very close proximity to the private property boundaries.
