Met him a couple times and provided good info for a couple spring hunts in the Capitol.

Some Bear history, you might remember this pic Stik from the good ole days.   Old Roy with his 200th bear.  He was from the Snohomish area.

This seal a hide is a carry over from spring bear discussion.
Which we all know spring bear didn't happen.
So that's where the idea came from, now let's make it a general season rule.(stupid)

Which if they would of followed department recommendations and set a season for spring bear, with the seal a hide requirement.
They didn't,so just drop the whole deal ,my opinion.
Ridiculous.

I guess what I'm trying to say is....
They could of eased into a regulation like this, with a trial run on spring bear. Seen some results, seen how it played out.
Then maybe thought about general season.
As it is now,I see no point. It's not spring during general season.
Cubs are more visible, during fall .

I have not operated this forum as a profitable venture yet, advertising is used to pay expenses.

But if you or any other member(s) don't mind providing several thousand dollars for expenses each year to pay for the server lease and maintenance, pay the tech guy to solve issues that shut down the forum, and other associated expenses, we wouldn't need any advertising to cover those costs, just sayin!

Additionally, to my knowledge other than myself and other businesses who pay to advertise their goods and services (which supports the cost of keeping this forum online), all the other free information between members has no cost to anyone! Please let me know if I am missing something?

Were you guys aware of this one coming down the pike?

Black Bear must be sealed inside a 72-hour window. Any Bear brought in to be
sealed that is lactating would require a search for the orphaned Cubs. If Cubs
are found prosecution would proceed for said hunter
.

That is very troubling language and not even written well!

Lol ok well more the reason not to get your beer sealed then. I killed a lactating cougar once and they called me looking for exact location I shot the cat so they could look for the cubs. I told them well.. I shot that cat 2 weeks ago so idk what good that will do. They decided to not pursue.

What a crock.  They are trying harder and harder to criminalize the standard hunter.  The part about cubs?  Where do they draw the line?  How big does it have to be to be defined as an adult?

This wouldn't be as big of an issue if baiting was still legal.  Baiting really provides the chance to accurately assess the size and sex of an animal (not getting into whether bears are transgender or not) and far fewer sows are killed.  Without baiting most opportunities are very quick and there is not much time to ascertain if there are cubs.
