Do they always shed?
« on: March 14, 2024, 01:39:25 PM »
I've now seen 3 different mule deer bucks in my wondering this week that still have a full set of horns. One 4x4,one 3x4 and a 2 point.  Can't remember ever seeing that many with horns this time of year. Not sure what's up with that.

The only mulie buck around here still has his antlers... I've seen some with antlers into early April.  Not many but it does happen.

Have all the whitetail bucks shed in the area?

Haven't seen any whitetail carrying.  Kinda concerned
with the whitetail numbers. Every year seeing fewer and fewer and this winter way down. Hoping the milder winter kept a lot of them higher up rather than down lower around my place.  Mule deer numbers seem fairly stable with good fawn carry over.

Our whitetail were rebounding very well until the blue tongue a couple years ago.  Last year was looking way better than the year before.....until the wolves moved in.  I am hopeful that the deer just moved away while the wolves were here and will come back now that the wolves have moved on.  It is the same story with the moose.  We had 5 moose that frequented the area with one big bull that call it home year round.  Haven't seen a moose on camera for 18 months.   :bash: :bash: :bash:  Was waiting till the big bull hit his prime to let someone hunt him.......now that ship has sailed.   :bash: :bash: :bash:
