Nice! A takedown this early is a victory in its self! What were the water conditions like? How bout the furbag situation? Are they as thick as last year? I will be fishing April 4th and 5th for sure, maybe a day before then as well. Good luck out there!

Water was a little dirty, quite a bit of debris on top. Seals were there not in big groups couple dz maybe in my troll area.

BTW That take down today was on my new Edge rod. Pro 360 902 10-20 Sure wish it would’ve stuck.

Couple dozen seals where you were trolling? Is it common to see larger groups?

Saw this on FB earlier and also read an article stating that NOAA with remove 50 sealions from the Portland area in April. The article also stated that the sealions eat as much as half of the spring Chinook run. I don't know how a fish could even make it in to the Cowlitz through that gauntlet!

Saw one caught, I had one missed bite on herring. Was in the channel. The Columbia was full of seals. Saw them get at least a couple in my short time out there. Those fish have zero chance with that many every where.

I don’t fish the lower river so I didn’t realize there were this many around. I’m afraid the salmon numbers will soon look like the steelhead if something isn’t done.

Man has created unnatural flows, water temp, and barriers which changes fish behavior and allows it to be a win for the furbags.

Then man doesn't manage the furbags correctly.

They figure the sea lions kills around 40-50% of the springer run.

Here is one that made it thru the pack of sea lions only to fall victim to a whole herring behind triangle. Tight lines everyone
