Cougar Hunting Reporting
« on: April 08, 2024, 04:19:51 PM »
How come the cougar tag hunting report is due on the last day the tag is good for an not like 10days after? You cant be getting accurate hunter harvest-effort reports unless everyone is a heck of a lot better than I am at reporting it. I report everything. When I kill something, I submit the report online generally that week. And if I don't kill something I generally report on that tag the week after my last season. Now, there is always maybe a check on house keeping in January when the balance of most hunting reports reports are due. BUT cougar is open on the previous years tag until 3/31 and then on 4/1 you have to start hunting with next years tag. They should really keep it open for reporting through at least 4/10 in my opinion. I know I could be like welp looks like I'm not hunting the 31st so I should report but you just never know with cougar especially since its generally an opportunistic tag. More often then not I am out in an area open for cougar those final days too.

Also, (separate topic) don't get why WDFW doesn't copy ODFW's software/app. That thing is powerful...it can literally pick up your location. You can report your kill and it will hold it until you get back into service and upload it but at least while your in the field your covered and then there is no thinking.

I’m not doing anything wrong, but wdfw has no business knowing where I’m at.

Sure but you have to report the tag by 3/31… else it’s a not reported un-submitted

A couple of years ago I hunted cougar till dark on the last day of season, drove home late and tired and figured I would do my cougar report the next morning.  Nope.  The reporting site would not let me report and said that the report period was closed!

That is ridiculous!  They do not want info, they merely want to charge hunters an extra ten bucks by not letting us report.

Yes, I am disgusted with the reporting system, which also charged me one time when I HAD reported.

It is a sneaky way to raise the cost of many hunting licenses by ten dollars.
