Tarptent Aeon Li or Argali Owyhee
« on: April 07, 2024, 06:06:50 PM »
Which are you guys choosing for August/Sept hunts, or has anyone tried both? I've been running a Mountain Star for a while now and trying to lighten up my early season setup. Application is for cramming everything back into my bag each morning. If im spiking out, I'll most likely still bring the MS. One is much lighter, but the other is much roomier. Going to a 30° bag from a 15° and switching to the uberlite over the xlite. Thanks all!

I haven't tried the Tarptent, but thought I'd give this thread some love as I've run the Owyhee w/the mesh insert over the past year.  I've been really pleased with it overall although I switch to the Rincon in the fall for the extra space when weather hits.  I came from a Kuiu Summit Star 1P and much prefer it overall to that tent for the ease of setup and the silpoly fabric.  Both tents were more comfortable with the guy lines staked out, regardless of wind conditions.  If you're going solo, I can't fault it as one of the better floorless shelters out there.
